Patriot HS to Commemorate Josh Morrison with FOR22 Ceremony

Patriot High School invites the community to commemorate the life of Josh Morrison, Class of 2013, on April 23 at 6 p.m. The commemoration will take place on the baseball field and will precede the Patriot Pioneers Varsity Baseball game against Osbourn High School. 

Josh Morrison, a member of Patriot High School's first class, sadly passed away prematurely in January of 2014, as the result of a car accident. He may be Patriot's most celebrated alumnus. Josh made an indelible impact on his school and the people who knew him. 

"Josh Morrison was a member of our baseball program and was a founder of our Red Nation spirit group. He had also accepted a scholarship to play baseball at GMU," said Dr. Michael Bishop, who served as principal since the school's opening. 

Patriot Baseball Team has retired Josh's jersey, number 22. However, on April 23, everyone will be #22. "In honor of him, on that night, our entire baseball team will all wear #22 for warm-ups and our field is decorated with #22 logo," Bishop said. 

Additionally, Patriot Leaderships students organized a fundraiser via the sale of FOR22 T-shirts, which they would like fans to wear to the ceremony and game. All proceeds from the sale of the FOR22 T-shirts will go towards the Bristow charitable nonprofit the Sweet Julia Grace Foundation. The SJGF grants wishes to ill and disabled children and supports day to day needs of families "going through the unimaginable with their child."

T-shirts will be on sale from April 15-22 and can be ordered via this link. Shirts can be picked up at the front desk at Patriot High School on April 22, during school hours (before 2 p.m.), or on April 23 at the table inside the stadium gates, before the 6 p.m. ceremony. 

Patriot High School carries on Josh's legacy when athletes give it their all, when students show heart, cheer each other on, and when students act as a community.  Bishop hopes people will come to the memorial baseball game to pay tribute to Josh Morrison.  The last commemoration in 2022 proved. not only a wonderful tribute but served also as a reunion for so many of Josh's friends and family, and a celebration of the Patriot spirit. 

"Josh was a great kid, always smiling, happy, and willing to make everyone feel welcome. He was a great person, an outstanding athlete, and a community member with a huge heart," Bishop said.
