UPDATE: Police Arrest Manassas Man Suspected of Kidnapping Local Teenager

Manassas City Police have made an arrest into the abduction of a local teenage girl that occurred morning of Sept. 5, in Manassas. The girl was able to get away but exiting the vehicle.

Manassas Police arrested suspect Jesus Enrique Ramirez Cabrera, 23, of Manassas two days later.

Thursday morning, a Manassas girl was walking to school on when she was approached by an unknown man in a red SUV while walking near Quarry Road and Zebedee Street.

According to the police, the man falsely identified himself as a police officer, then grabbed the victim by the arm and placed her in his vehicle. After driving a few blocks, the girl opened the door and quickly escaped the car.

Saturday, Manassas City Police announced that their officers had made an arrest in the case.

“Manassas City Police Detectives conducted an extensive investigation over the last 48 hours since this incident was first reported,” said a press release. “During the investigation, detectives were able to identify a potential suspect in the case.”

Manassas City Police Detectives located Ramirez Cabrera Saturday evening and transported to the Prince William County Adult Detention.

Police also executed a search warrant for a residence in the 10000 block of Makely’s Way in the City of Manassas.

Jesus Enrique Ramirez Cabrera, 23, of Manassas has been charged with Abduction (18.2-47); Robbery (18.2-58); Impersonation of Law Enforcement (18.2-174); Petit Larceny (18.2-96).

He is being held at the detention center without bond.

“At this time detectives do not believe any other suspects were involved in this incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” said the police report.

Due to the age of the victim and the ongoing investigation, police are not releasing any further information will be released at this time.

The Manassas Police are warning residents that the man accused of abducting a teenage girl in Manassas, Thursday morning, by falsely identifying himself as a police officer. 

The girl was able to free herself from his vehicle and is safe, but the man remains at large.

“We ask the public to remain cautious and vigilant when encountering suspicious persons or vehicles and to contact law enforcement right away,” said PIO, Sgt. B. Stempf.

Manassas City Police received a call at 8:39 a.m., from a resident, reporting a juvenile in distress near the intersection of Quarry Road and Zebedee Street.

Following their arrival, the teenager told officers she was abducted while walking to school. A strange man approached her, identified himself as a police officer, and told her to get in his vehicle. Then he exited the vehicle, grabbed her arm, and put her in the front passenger seat.

According to the victim, he drove away, going down Clover Hill Road, to Wellington Road, Fairview Avenue to Quarry Road. At that point, the juvenile quickly exited the vehicle, although it was not parked.

Police obtained a photo of the man’s vehicle from a doorbell camera. It shows a reddish Jeep SUV, Patriot or Commander.

According to police, the suspect is a Hispanic male approximately 40 years of age, with black hair and a beard. No weapons were involved.

Police did not release the name of the victim nor her school.
